AEW’s Double or Nothing 2025 is in the books, and as always, Dave Meltzer’s star ratings have sparked conversation among wrestling fans. The night was filled with breathtaking action, unforgettable moments, and some true classics that will be talked about for years. But let’s be honest—sometimes even the best of us need a little correction.
The Ratings
Here’s how Meltzer scored the show, followed by my own thoughts:
Main Card
- Hangman Page vs. Will Ospreay – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐½
A potential Match of the Year contender! Ospreay continues to prove why he’s one of the best in the world, and Hangman was right there with him.
- DCF vs. Paragon – ⭐⭐⭐¾
A solid contest, but not quite at the level of some of the night’s show-stealers.
- Anarchy in the Arena – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
AEW’s signature chaos delivered in full. Hard-hitting, wild, and exactly what fans wanted.
- Toni Storm vs. Mina Shirakawa – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A strong showing for both women, and a great addition to AEW’s growing legacy of excellent women’s matches.
- Kazuchika Okada vs. Speedball Mike Bailey – ⭐⭐⭐⭐½
A fantastic clash of styles! Okada was his usual masterful self, while Speedball made sure the world took notice.
- Hurt Syndicate vs. Sons of Texas – ⭐⭐⭐½
A hard-hitting tag match that served its purpose on the card.
- Ricochet vs. Mark Briscoe – ⭐⭐⭐⭐½
High-flying greatness meets rugged brawling. These two delivered a thrilling contest!
- FTR vs. Nigel McGuinness & Daniel Garcia – ⭐⭐⭐⭐½
Tag team wrestling at its finest. FTR always delivers, and Nigel’s return was something special.
- Mercedes Moné vs. Jamie Hayter – ⭐⭐⭐⭐½
Two of the best female wrestlers on the planet battling for supremacy? Sign me up every time.
Zero Hour Pre-Show
- 8-Man Tag Match – ⭐⭐⭐⭐¼
An exciting way to kick off the night with fast-paced action.
- Anna Jay & Harley Cameron vs. Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
(Meltzer didn’t rate this one, but I’m stepping in! This deserved recognition—solid performances all around.)
Final Thoughts
Double or Nothing 2025 was a spectacular event, proving once again why AEW is the home of top-tier professional wrestling. While Meltzer’s ratings are always insightful, I think Anna Jay & Harley Cameron vs. Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford deserved acknowledgment, so I’ve taken the liberty of correcting that oversight.
